Film Freak Productions was founded by Gareth Correa and Brian Chen, two filmmakers who met during their final semesters at Pratt Institute. What started as casual conversations about comic books, video games, and cinema quickly turned into a creative alliance. Inspired by the DC Comics character Film Freak, the name is a nod to obsessive cinephiles who live and breathe the art of storytelling.
Armed with degrees in Film and Video and a deep understanding of both the technical and creative sides of production, we set out to create work that’s bold, character-driven, and visually dynamic. We pull from everything we love genre films, graphic novels, arcade cabinets, late-night screenings, and filter it through our own lens.
We direct, shoot, and edit everything from narrative shorts and commercial work to music videos, branded content and event coverage. Whether it’s something grounded and emotional or loud and stylized, we aim to bring our unique energy to every frame.
Gareth Correa is a filmmaker based in New York City, specializing in cinematography, lighting, editing, and color. A Pratt Institute Film & Video BFA graduate, Gareth’s work blends strong visual storytelling with hands-on technical expertise. He’s operated a range of professional camera systems, including ARRI, RED, Sony, and Canon, and is equally skilled in lighting design and post-production workflows.
From shooting branded content for streetwear labels like Paris Laundry to editing narrative shorts and crafting music videos, Gareth thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments. Whether behind the camera or in the edit bay, he brings precision, style, and a deep love of cinematic craft to every project.
